Northwest Territories Forklift Parts - The Northwest Territories is located in northern Canada. This federal territory borders the two other territories in the country, Nunavut towards the east and Yukon to the west. Towards the south of the Northwest Territories there are 3 provinces: British Columbia towards the southwest and Saskatchewan and Alberta to the south. According to the census of 2006, the Northwest Territories population was roughly 41,400 which was an increase from 2001 by 11%. The land area measures 440,000 square miles or 1,140,835 km2. During 1967, the city of Yellowknife became the capital as a result of suggestions from the Carrothers Commission.

There are several wonderful geographical features in the Northwest Territories such as Keller Lake, Great Slave Lake and the Great Bear Lake that is the biggest lake entirely in the nation. Mount Nirvana is near the Yukon border and is the highest point of the Northwest Territories with an elevation of 2,773 metres or 9,098 feet.

Although Nunavut is mostly an Arctic tundra, the Northwest Territories enjoys a type of weather which is somewhat warmer and is mostly taiga or boreal forest. About half of the territory is situated north of the tree line.

The territory has a lot of natural and geological resources like for instance petroleum, gold, diamonds and natural gas. BP is the only oil business which produces any oil within the territory. The Canadian Diamonds that are mined and promoted from the area offer an alternative to blood diamonds. BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto are two of the largest mineral resource businesses within the globe who mine a big quantity of their diamonds from the Northwest Territories. According to records, during the year 2010, the Northwest Territories accounted for one hundred and ten percent of BHP's diamonds coming in at 3.05 million carats from the EKATI mine. The numbers show 28.5% of Rio Tinto's total production of diamonds at 3.9 million carats that was seventeen percent more than the previous 2009 total from the Diavik Diamond Mine.

In 2009, the Northwest Territories had the highest GDP per capita of all territories and provinces in the country at seventy six thousand Canadian dollars.

Based on statistics from the year 2010, the NWT has thirty three official communities varying in size from Kasisa with fifty two individuals to Yellowknife with eighteen thousand seven hundred inhabitants. Every community has several governing bodies. For instance, some regions are designated as a hamlet, village, city or town whilst other regions fall under various kinds of First Nations control. The majority of communities are designated as municipal corporations.

The biggest community is Yellowknife and it also has the largest number of Aboriginal people projected as 4,105 or 42 percent. The community of Behchoko has the largest First Nations community with a population of 1,894 and 1,730 or 91.5%. Inuvik has roughly 3,484 inhabitants and is also home to the largest Inuvialuit community with 1,335 individuals or 38.9%. Within the Northwest Territories there is one Indian reserve known as the Hay River Reserve which is situated on the south shoreline of the Hay River.
