Compared to a sit-down unit, the stand-up lift truck unit is totally different to operate. The way at which you pick up cargo and your movements are completely different. If you do not have correct training for operating a stand-up model, you can probably cause harm co-employees or to yourself. When operating a stand-up unit, you have to follow the correct safety regulations. There are a few basic operating standards that need to be met when using a stand-up model.
To begin on a stand-up unit lift truck, it is important to get a good feel for the steering knob and the controls. Rather than a steering wheel, the steering is handled utilizing the knob steering plate. Remember that this particular knob moves really fast, therefore, you should get used to moving it carefully so as to be certain not to over steer. The horn is situated on the control handle, as is the control for forwards, backwards and the fork movement. The floor pedal allows the machine to move.
Turn the key to start the equipment's engine if you are set to begin. The forks must not be extended at this stage. When you are moving all-over the floor, the forks must be pointed a little upwards. Do not drive with extended forks. If you are traveling forwards, move the control handle forward and step on the pedal in order to make the lift move forward. If you are backing up, be sure to beep your horn to alert those around you. Look behind you before stepping on the pedal in order to make sure the path is safe and clear. Then, while stepping on the pedal, pull the control handle towards you. Stay focused and alert and make sure that you are always operating in a safe way.
When it comes to turning corners, turn your steering knob in the direction you need to go while keeping your hand on the control handle and your foot on the power pedal. When turning right, the steering knob will move in a clockwise direction while moving forward. If you are turning left, your steering knob will go in a counter-clockwise direction.
The stand-up units take some getting used to, especially if you have just operated sit down models. With some training and taking some time to know the machine, you could efficiently and quickly handle loads in little time.
